I’m trying to type in Red-spotted Purple on a checklist, but it is not acceptable. AI suggested limenitis astyanax but that also is not accepted. What to name it and how to include it in my checklist?
Remember that the Red-Spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) is a subspecies of the White Admiral (Limenitis arthemis arthemis). To submit an RSP on eButterfly, you should select it as White Admiral, and, optionally, you can write down on remarks that it is a subspecies Astyanax.
In the future, eButterfly will be able to accept the most common subspecies.
You need to select Red-spotted Admiral (L. arthemis). White Admiral is actually a Eurasian species (L. camilla). I know this can be confusing to some with all these subspecies and species names.

we need a new common name for the White Admiral such as maybe White-striped Purple - having just a single name scientific name association loses biological information
