New to Butterflying: I have begun submitting to the 2nd atlas over the last few days and am perplexed that the AI identified this one as a Red Admiral. It doesn’t resemble any of the pix I have seen.

It does look like a very worn-out Red Admiral. Generally, butterflies lose their bright colours as they age and start losing their scales. Here is an example of a worn-out Monarch.

Indeed it is! Very very worn. Makes one wonder where this migrant butterfly has been during its life!
