Visually tracking of flying butterflies

Which butterflies do you find most difficult to visually follow in flight?

Great question! In general, following most skippers is a dizzying experience for me! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Though, when I went to Panama, I found some clearwings to be almost like a ghost when flying!

I find the hairstreaks very difficult to follow. (I havnt seen tropical ghostwings in flight. Perhaps that is why!)

Yes, that is a good point. Hairstreaks are quite difficult to photograph; however, I have a lot more success capturing them because they are pretty territorial and always return to the same place where you originally spotted them.

Skippers—Ugh!

Yeah. The fastest fliers. Perhaps skippers are least predated by birds and consequently have not evolved others ways of discouraging predators (such as eye spots and horrible taste)
