Still seeing new (continuing?) list issues. Was in Florida last week and no Florida life list butterflies are appearing. Total species in top box (dashboard?) is different from total life list species - presumably due to lack of Florida species? Is there a time lag in the syncing of data that we should be aware of or should all updates be fairly instantaneous? Lastly, I have 1 life list butterfly appearing as an other country and 2 butterflies listed for 2022 as other country. When I click on the observations, I receive an “error out” message. Nevertheless, I have only reported US butterflies.
Thanks for your message.
I see your submissions to Florida from my end; if possible, could you click on the “Provinces/States” tab and send me a screenshot of what you see, please?
Regarding the exact number of species on different parts of the site; there are many things playing at the same time: 1) if some identifications are incomplete (i.e. identified only to the genus opr family level) they are not counted on the statsbar (topbox), but they do show on the liofelist below. 2) the numbers are not calculated instantly, if you just submitted a checklist, it might take up to 10 minutes to update those numbers.
The “Other” problem, is a bug that Google had in the past, and some users that submitted during that time, were assigned with that “Other” country. I have been cleaning them manually, and I just did it with the checklist that you had from Colorado (please confirm). If there are other checklists that you have identified with that same issue, please let me know and I’ll be happy to fix them
Hopefully, this answers your questions
Best,
Rodrigo
Hi Rodrigo, thanks for your response. I’ve attached the states/provinces screenshot as requested. As to the number of species, I think I understand your explanation but I don’t think it explains the discrepancy. Based on your explanation, the statsbar numbers should be lower than the lifelist total. In my case the statsbar number is higher.
My “other” butterflies are still appearing. I’ve attached a screenshot as well.
Thanks for your patience with me.
Addendum to previous response. I clicked the blue “116” US species to see the details. The result is 130 displayed species, which corresponds to the statsbar.
Thanks for the additional information. I see now what the problem is, and it is a bug that we have already identified.
We plan to revisit how the life list is calculated all over the site to make it more consistent. Unfortunately, our developer is almost 100% focused on getting our mobile app ready ASAP, so many non-critical fixes are taking loner than usual; but be sure that I am taking note of this.
Regarding the checklists marked as “Other”. I already fixed all the checklists on your profile that I was able to spot with that problem. If there are still some lingering around, please send me the checklist number, and I’ll deal with them.
Thanks
I’ll add that I also have the “1 species in Other” issue as indicated in the attachment. Clicking on the “1” produces a list of far more than one. From the preceding discussion shall I assume the fix is a direct request to individually modify the, unknown to me, entry?
Hi @StevenFurino , good the hear from you. Our developer already fix that, and many other bugs, and should release them very soon.
I know it has taken way more than normal to fix these bugs, but since we are working on the global version, the fixes were applied there, and will be released once the entire global version is out (currently on beta testing, and going ver well)
Thanks. And looking forward to the next version!
